In 2000 I did a play in San Francisco called “By the Barrow”.
A wonderful and extraordinary experience.
During the rehearsal the director found out I was a visual artist and asked me to create work for my character’s studio, she was a painter.
When I came home the director brought me to a foundry after I expressed a huge interest in learning to work with bronze.
He knew the founder and I got a tour and some black modelling wax placed into my hands.
I loved it.
Since then I have been making work with the lost wax process.
This is a Renaissance technique that is still being used today.
